Graphic Designer/Pre-Press Technician - Direct Mail, Verizon Superpages Ad Books
Using the latest MAC OS and Abobe CS3 software, it was my responsibility
to create the most effective direct mail advertisement design solutions
possible. With client's ranging across the U.S., efficiency, attention to detail
and a quick & keen eye for compelling design were all top priorities. With an
annual client output rate of over 100,000 direct mail pieces ranging from
1,000 to 5,000 units per run, it was key to be thorough, fast-paced and
have the ability to handle dozens of current projects at once. Along with
designing the most eye-catching advertisement solution for the clients, it
was also crucial to adhere to strict spec and print guidlines which involved
having thorough and competent knowledge of the complete pre-press
and final print process. This involved setting up each client project to meet
the correct color balance, ink saturation, spot to process color conversion,
high resolution CMYK Vector and Raster artwork, bleed/trim/crop areas,
page orientation, and many other guidlines needed for the full pre-press
process. It was also important to have excellent written and verbal
communication and skills, as I would have to relay any changes to the
project directly to the Media Consultant with the most details possible.

Graphic Designer - Direct Mail, Ad Brochures, Posters, Web, Print Ads
Working closely with a wide variety of clients, take provided artwork and
content from collaboration to rough draft to final printed piece.
Conceptualize the client's needs while interpreting their vision producing the
most effective solution to suite their marketing plan. Thorough knowledge
of the entire pre-press and final printing process was a must. Along with
having a keen eye for design, it was imperative to understand the complete
flow of the marketing scheme as well as the technical specifics of the
design to print aspect, i.e; color saturation and adjustment, paper choice
and quality, page orientation: work and turn, work and tumble, crops,
bleeds, gutters, fonts and typography and the plate making process. Work
directly with the Art Director and press operators to help perfect all aspects
of the final product. Using the latest design software, some of the projects
included:
Advertising brochures, large volume, multi regional mailers, event posters,
logos, corporate identity suites, print ads and website implementation.
